Project Overview
Ciko Animation is a 2D animated series that highlights the importance of family values through fun and engaging storytelling. I had the opportunity to collaborate as a freelance animator with iProduksi Studio, a startup animation company, to help develop the pilot episode.
The animation style was inspired by Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom, but with a unique twist—featuring a family of cats as the main characters. The series aimed to entertain and educate children aged 3-6, teaching them about the importance of family, friendship, and kindness.
My Role & Contributions
As a Key Animator, I was responsible for:
- Character Design: Created main and supporting characters to fit the series' theme.
- Storyboarding: Developed the storyboard for the pilot episode, ensuring a smooth flow of the storyline.
- Background Design: Designed the environments that complement the animation’s setting.
- 2D Animation: Used frame-by-frame animation and tweening animation for expressive character movements.
- Scene Compositing: Combined animation sequences, transitions, and effects for a polished final result.
- Audio Syncing: Integrated voice acting, music, and sound effects to enhance the storytelling.
Tools Used
- Adobe Flash (Animate) – For character animation and background design.
- Adobe After Effects – For scene compositing and final production.
Reflection
Working on Ciko Animation was a great experience that allowed me to explore different animation techniques, balancing frame-by-frame animation for expressive moments and tweening animation for efficiency. This project strengthened my skills in character animation, scene composition, and storytelling, giving me a deeper understanding of how to bring animated stories to life.
